Riding your bicycle in the winter nights.

Cycling is a healthy green, inexpensive way of traveling.
Be seen and be safe.
Just today I se in the news another cyclist has been killed in London.
Five Cyclists have died in the last nine days, I am not going to go into what the politicians say.
As a Cyclist myself I se people doing stupid things on bikes, WAKE  UP YOU LOT.
Riding with out lights is one of the most common things I see, what the hell is wrong with you people.
A set of lights cost next to nothing, not only that they may actually save your life.
As a bonus you may be able to see where you are going.
A high visibility  jacket  or reflective clothing, also costs next to nothing.
Seriously people Safety Safety Safety, no  excuses here.
I also se people with only one brake, very poor fitting bikes etc etc etc.
SHOULD YOU HAVE NO LIGHTS GO GET A SET.
Remember you only get what you pay for, if you se a set for 3.99 they will not be as good as a 30 pound set.
At the end of the day its your money and your life, but being a dick reflects on us all ok.
I am lucky and can do all my own repairs,  and fit my own lights .
Should you be unsure of anything rather than hope your bike is safe, take it to a shop.
Get them to check it over, it wont cost a fortune.
If your kids have bikes especialy teenagers, make sure they have lights working brakes as well.
The other night I saw 2 lads on bikes with no lights, riding in a country lane.
It is pitch black around here of a night, there is no excuses people.
Do the right thing keep your kids bikes safe.
Be seen be safe this winter.......

cycling in bedfordshire

cycling in Bedfordshire.
Well this update is way overdue, smoking thing all over with and back on the bike again.
Its been over 5 months since I last smoked and at last I se results.
I can now cycle for longer and still breathe, I am way to heavy but working hard on the bike.
Things looking good for me at the moment, and had a result at Halfords (again)
While giving my summer bike a bit of A CLEAN I noticed that part of my new pump had fallen off.
Its an on bike top peak , mini dual.
I was gutted when I saw it, but took the pump and receipt to Halfords in Bedford and the fella just replaced the missing part.
Thank you Halfords.
The pump cost me 17.99 last year and I would have replaced it with another one.
I have been out on the bike today but only did 2 miles as my legs are still screwed after the other day.
I have had a top speed on the bike computer of 28mph for about 2 years, the other day I passed that to 31.3 mph.
I gotta say that was down hill :o) even so I had to push to achieve that.
loads more biking stuff to follow .
Another little cycling update,
Yesterday 2 things happened, firstly my new top speed is 32.5 mph..
I also had a flat tire, the indestructible gatorskin
now has a hole in the side wall.
I stupidly had no pump spare tube, or no one to ring to come pick me up.
After a nearly 5 mile walk I will not make that mistake again.
I had hoped that some of the viewers of this site may make comment, if for some reason you cant .
Please drop me an email at joyboy@hushmail.me
I will do my best to sort out any problems .
