Bicycle repairs Bedfordshire

To me and a lot of other people a bicycle is a simple piece of machinery, thats pretty easy to fix. To others it may as well be a space rocket. So im hoping to have a basic repair section , in the forum where people can help to get you going again. The best advice i can give you on this page is to buy a toolkit, leave the adjustable spanner in the garden shed. (along with the hammer) A set of combination spanners, ranging from 8mm to around 17mm should do. As im basing this on people who dont know, a combination spanner has open jaws one end, and a ring the other. Also very handy is a set of allen keys, neither of the above need be very expensive. Some bicycle tool kits that come in a little bag, that mounts on the bike are better than nothing. Some also have tire levers + a puncture repair kit.Bedfordshire cycling. Have you ever been riding your bike, looked down at the front tire and thought its got a hump. Upon spinning the wheel you can clearly See the tire rise and fall like the wheel is shaped a bit oval. This applies to both wheels front and rear,it goes without saying that you should make sure the wheel is not oval. Lets presume the wheel is true but that dam tire going up and down needs sorting. If you look at the side of the tires they should have a line just above where the the tire meets the wheel, check this line all the way around. Correcting this is easy enough, deflate the tire so that you can easily push the tire away from the rim. Manipulate it either further into the wheel, or further away. Spin the wheel again checking if there is an improvement, inflate to full pressure and take a closer look. With a bit of patience you should soon have both wheels running true. Read on though Sometimes there can be a problem where the valve is, the tire may well not want to sit right into the rim. In this case the tire has been fitted with the valve fully inserted into the wheel. The remedy for this is to fully deflate the tire, push the valve nearly all the way in. Push down onto the tire , forcing the valve into the wheel. Re inflate the tire and double check the above for the tire being seated properly. This is worth remembering for the next time you remove, or replace a tire/ puncture repair. Push that valve in and push the tire onto the rim before inflating. Dont be shy in asking a question, i will do my best to help. Bedfordshire cycling /
