bicycle security

Bike/bicycle security. Before i start i have to say please make a note of your bicycle frame number. There is a website that you can register the bike as yours. If i can find a link i will put it on here. Firstly any lock is going to be better than no lock, but there are a few things to consider befor buying that lock. Are you going to store the lock on the bike, keep it in a backpack or a cable type lock around your neck. then theres how much to spend, that of course is down to what you can afford. There are so many locks out there from as little as a few pounds , to 60 or 70 pounds. Theres probably even more expensive ones out there. I left my bike unlocked once , and some little toe rag nicked it. (costly mistake) My advice is to go to your local bike shop and have a good look at what they have. Please dont make the same mistake as me and think , oh it can wait. When i go to the local supermarket i se a lot of people leave their locks attached to the bike rack. Not a bad idea if the bike is gonna be heavy from all the shopping. Myself i dont do that but put mine in the back pack, in fact im going to get a lock that clips to the bike. Something also worth a mention is, when you park your bike up in a supermarket. If you can park it where there is cctv coverage. The police willnot come out for a stolen bike unless there is some cctv evidence.
